New Zoll defibrillators give LIVES volunteers the edge in medical emergencies – from real-time CPR feedback to safer care for children.
A major rollout of cutting-edge defibrillators across LIVES’ volunteer Community First Responders has reached a vital milestone – with the first and final devices funded by BNA, a charitable organisation based in Lincoln. The latest to benefit is the Gainsborough district, where volunteers now carry Zoll defibrillators that are transforming emergency response in Lincolnshire’s communities.
LIVES is a Lincolnshire-based charity made up of volunteers who respond to 999 calls in their own time, without blue lights, providing rapid, often life-saving care while an ambulance is en route. Thanks to BNA’s support, these volunteers are now equipped with advanced defibrillators offering real-time CPR feedback – including depth and speed of compressions – and a dedicated paediatric setting that adjusts the shock to suit a child’s needs.
Ready when it matters most – the LIVES Gainsborough District with their new Zoll defibrillators.
Volunteer responders say the difference is already clear. Nikki Wells, one of LIVES longest standing CFRs and local to Gainsborough said “I would like to thank the BNA for their funding of our new defibrillators. These defibs provide real time feedback on our CPR enabling us to make sure our efforts are consistent and part of the best care we can possibly provide to patients. As CFRs we do this because we care about people in our communities getting the best care as quickly as possible and these new defibs will enable us in that.”
The new devices also record crucial data, such as how long CPR has been performed before paramedics arrive – vital for seamless handover to ambulance teams.
