Lincolnshire Parents Share Daughter’s Story Through Our ‘Forever in Bloom’ Campaign
At LIVES, we are honoured to share the story of a Lincolnshire family who are remembering their daughter through our Forever in Bloom memorial campaign.
Martin and Elaine have dedicated a flower in memory of their daughter Christine, whose life was devoted to helping others.
From an early age, Christine had a deep love for animals and a strong sense of compassion for people. After studying Counselling Skills at Lindum College in Lincoln, she went on to work in children’s homes across Lincolnshire, supporting young people through difficult times.
“She was very well liked and popular with staff members,” her parents said. “Helping children and young adults became something she truly cared about.”
Christine later moved with her parents to Lincoln, where they settled together in 2020. Sadly, around this time Christine became seriously ill and required regular treatment at Lincoln County Hospital.
On New Year’s Eve 2023, Christine fell at home and her parents were unable to move her without risking further injury. After struggling to secure an ambulance, they contacted the police, who connected them with LIVES Community First Responders.
“At last, we had help,” they said.
A LIVES responder arrived quickly and helped Christine safely from the floor, ensuring she was comfortable and treated with dignity.
“What LIVES did for Christine that night we will always remember,” Martin and Elaine said. “We can never truly express how relieved and thankful we were. Christine’s last days were made a little more comfortable because of them.”
Christine passed away peacefully at Lincoln County Hospital on 13 January 2024.
Martin and Elaine chose to dedicate a flower through Forever in Bloom, a campaign that invites people across Lincolnshire to remember someone special while helping support our life-saving work.
The campaign invites supporters to dedicate a yellow dahlia in memory of a loved one. Each flower will become part of a memorial installation at The Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa, on display from 23 May to 7 June.
A minimum donation of £30 includes a dedicated flower in the display, with all funds helping us continue responding to medical emergencies across Lincolnshire.
“Christine would have wanted to help people,” her parents said. “This feels like a way to honour her while supporting something that truly makes a difference.”
