CPR in the Community
Search

Sudden cardiac arrest is one the UK’s biggest killers.

It can strike at any time. It can happen to anyone. And when it does happen, there isn’t any time to waste. Every minute without CPR being applied reduces the chance of a patient’s survival by 10%1. Think about that for a second.

If someone in your family, a person you work with, or a stranger in the street suffers a cardiac arrest, possessing the skills to perform CPR could mean they survive to tell the tale.

With an estimated 60,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests occurring every year in the UK alone, make sure you are prepared.

LIVES’ CPR courses are regulated and give you a nationally recognised qualification. Completing the course provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Once learnt, it’s something you’ll always carry with you. You’ll never know when you might need it. You’ll always know what to do when that time comes.

We’ll cover the basic skills needed to react in the event of someone in the community suffering a cardiac arrest and will cover a range of basic interventions, including:

  • Making a 999 call (particularly aimed at younger learners and youth groups)
  • Chest compressions
  • Use of ‘rescue breaths’
  • Application and use of a community defibrillator

We also teach the principles of the DR ABC & chain of survival:

  • DANGER
  • RESPONSE
  • AIRWAY
  • BREATHING
  • CIRCULATION

WHAT OUTCOMES CAN YOU EXPECT?

This is very much an entry level course, designed to provide rudimentary ‘bystander CPR training’. It doesn’t award any officially recognised qualification or accreditation and is therefore not suitable for workplace settings.

We generally deliver this training to small groups, on site at your establishment (community centre/school etc) and all attendees will receive supporting literature after the session.

Make a difference in your community. Gain valuable skills that could help to save someone’s life. Email today to find out more. Contact fundraising@LIVES.org.uk

HOW IS THIS TRAINING PAID FOR?

This training is funded on a donation basis. We don’t charge a set fee for this course, but we do ask for a financial contribution. We can only continue saving lives and developing skills in your community thanks to your generous support.

The Fundraising Team will be happy to support you in providing ideas to support your fundraising.
