The LIVES foundation course is the first course attended by First responder trainees. The foundation course contains a great deal of the background training required to operate safely and effectively as an emergency first responder and includes:
- Health & Safety
- Infection Prevention & Control
- Conflict Resolution
- Clinical Governance
The one day course goes on to cover scene safety, initial patient assessment and basic life support. Upon completion members are qualified to respond as a Level 1 responder to non-emergency calls for assistance. The vast majority of members move rapidly on to emergency first responding at Level 2.

Pre-Requisites: 2 hours pre course training with a LIVES trainer
